Every connection has a ceiling

A connection acts as a Joomla user and can never do more than that user can. Within that ceiling you decide which components it sees and whether it only reads, only writes or does both.

Writes wait for a sign-off

By default, every action that changes the site is held in the panel with its exact arguments. An administrator approves or rejects it. Almost all of them accept dry_run, so you can simulate first.

Everything is recorded

The audit log keeps every call, rejected ones included, in a hash chain that exposes edits and deletions. The usage panel shows calls, errors and latency per connection.

It reaches beyond articles

Entities and options of any component, the YOOtheme page builder, system operations and, if you switch it on, SQL and files. Other evo extensions add their own tools.

Who it is for

For agencies and developers who want to hand management tasks to an assistant without giving it an unrestricted super user account. If you only need to generate text outside Joomla, you do not need it.

Limits

  • Cloud assistants only reach sites with HTTPS and a public address; on a local site you need a client that uses a token.
  • It does not update the Joomla core, and a connection cannot change evoMCP's own options.
  • An approved action runs as the connection's Joomla user, not as the person who approved it.

Frequently asked questions

Does it include an AI model?

No. evoMCP only runs the authorised calls sent by the assistant you connect. That assistant's provider receives the data the tools return.

Which assistants can I connect?

Any MCP client that supports HTTP transport. The panel has a guide for Claude (web and desktop), ChatGPT, Claude Code and token clients such as Cursor.

Can the assistant delete or publish things without my knowing?

Not in the default mode: every write is held for approval. Even if you pick No approval on a connection, some actions always require it: blocking users, enabling or disabling extensions, permanent deletion, changing options and configuration, installing or uninstalling, and any write in the advanced layer.

Can it read the database or touch files?

Only through the advanced layer, which is disabled by default. To use it you must enable its plugin, switch it on in the options and give the connection full permission. Only a super user can use it.

What happens when the licence expires?

The extension keeps working. Updates stop arriving. The details are on the licences page.
