# evoYTAccess: first steps

> Create your first access condition in the YOOtheme Pro Builder, check that the node never reaches the HTML and know how page cache affects it.

# evoYTAccess: first steps

## Before you start

With the plugin [installed and enabled](https://evoaddons.com/en/documentation/evoytaccess-install), every element, item, section, row and column in the Builder has an **Acceso** (Access) tab, placed before *Advanced*. While you edit in the Builder you see everything, conditional nodes included; conditions apply on the live site.

The tab and its fields are labelled in Spanish whatever the admin language. YOOtheme does not use Joomla language files inside the Builder, so the labels are written by hand. This guide gives the Spanish label with its English meaning.

## Show a block only to logged-in users

1. Open a page in the Builder and select the element you want to condition.
2. Go to the **Acceso** tab and tick “Activar condiciones de acceso” (Enable access conditions). The other fields stay disabled until you do.
3. Leave **Acción** (Action) on “Mostrar solo si se cumplen” (Show only if met).
4. In the **Usuario** (User) group, set **Estado** (State) to “Solo usuarios con sesión” (Logged-in users only).
5. Save the page.

## Check that it works

1. Open the page in a private window, not logged in.
2. View the page source and search for some text from the element. It should not be there: the node is removed on the server, not hidden with CSS.
3. Log in and reload. The element now appears.

## A second example: a notice with dates

For a notice that should only show between two specific dates and during office hours:

1. Tick “Activar condiciones de acceso”.
2. Under **Fecha y hora** (Date and time), fill in “Desde” (From) and “Hasta” (Until), in the site’s time zone.
3. If you like, tick days of the week and enter “Hora desde” (Time from) `09:00` and “Hora hasta” (Time to) `18:00`.

Everything you fill in under **Fecha y hora** has to be true at once: inside the date range, one of the ticked days, and inside the time slot.

## Combine rules

When you fill in more than one rule (say User and Device), the **Lógica** (Logic) field decides how they combine:

- “Deben cumplirse todas (Y)” (all must be met, AND): the node is shown if every filled rule matches.
- “Basta con una (O)” (any one is enough, OR): one matching rule is enough.

Empty rules do not count. **Acción** flips the result: with “Ocultar si se cumplen” (Hide if met) the node disappears exactly when the rules match.

## Two warnings before you publish

- **Page cache.** If Joomla’s “System - Page Cache” plugin is on, the date, time, device, menu and category rules are cached for guests: Joomla serves guests the cached copy of the page, with the decision made when it was generated. User rules are not affected because Joomla does not cache pages for logged-in users. If you rely on dates or devices, turn page cache off or test carefully.
- **Search, RSS and API.** YOOtheme stores a plain-text copy of the layout in the article, which search, RSS, the API and sites without YOOtheme use. That copy includes every node, including the ones evoYTAccess hides on the page. **Do not use evoYTAccess to protect confidential content.**
